Enjoy your lovely Afternoon Tea in Inverness with the best view overlooking Inverness Castle and the River Ness in the elegant lounge, sophisticated Brasserie, Lounge or stylish Eight on the River Restaurant! Book in advance to treat yourself and your friends to some great conversation and a chance to catch up over Afternoon Tea at the Inverness Palace. The tradition started in early 1800’s with the Duchess of Bedford having that “sinking feeling” in the afternoon as it was normal for only 2 meals a day. The Duchess started the tradition of a pot of tea and a light bites which she later went on to invite friends too attend at Woburn Abbey. The concept of “afternoon tea” took off an became part of high society!

The great thing about Afternoon Tea is it’s indulgent and so delicious and you can opt for only a light supper when you get home! Here at the Palace your afternoon tea is a delicious selection of freshly made sandwiches using local produce and a naughty selection of cakes.   Not forgetting the freshly made scones, thick whipped double cream and lashings of local jam!

• Online use the Open Table booking link below (select Afternoon Tea in the first box), for parties of 9+ call us on 01463223243 or email Palace. If Open Table shows “full”, please select an alternative time or call us to check.
• Dietary Requirements - we are very experienced helping guests with dietary requirements but it is essential you tell us in advance. On Open Table just note them down and we will contact you in advance, unfortunately on the day we can't adjust afternoon teas to accommodate dietary requirements .

Afternoon Tea Booking Terms & Conditions

• Open Table (our preferred booking tool) can process bookings up to 8 guests, for larger parties please book direct.
• Dietary Requirements - note any dietary requirements/ Vegan menu requirements on Open Table when booking.
• We kindly ask that your party is ready to be seated at the time indicated in your booking confirmation. To allow for a smooth service please pass this to all your guests, food and beverage service will start when the whole party has arrived.
• Your table is booked for 2 hours from the start of your reservation.
• Please notify the hotel on 01463 223243 if you are delayed, or we may release the table 15 minutes after the reservation time. 
• All afternoon teas bookings require a credit card to secure the booking for direct bookings and online. All credit card information will be processed securely via Open Table and is the fastest way to make a booking for 8 or less.
• Final numbers and dietary requirements are due 7 days prior to arrival or if booked within 7 days this is required at time of booking. 
• Payment at the Hotel for 8 or less guests required on arrival.
• Full pre-payment required for parties of 8 or more - payment due 7 days prior to arrival.
• No-shows or cancellations less than 1 week in advance will be subject to a charge of £10 per person.
• Changes to guest count made less than 1 week in advance will be subject to a charge of £10 per person.
• The location of your Afternoon Tea maybe in Eight on the River Restaurant, Brasserie or Lounge depending on number of guests and availability.
