Milton Hotels – a bit about us…

The Inverness Palace Hotel was built in the 1890’s by a well known Highland business man.  It was built on the site of Ness House a traditional Highland mansion; it has been a well-known Highland Hotel for over 100 years.

The Inverness Palace Hotel was purchased by Milton Hotels Ltd in 1975.  Milton Hotels is a small, family run Hotel Company, the company started with a Fort William base and over the years the company grew to six Scottish Hotels.  However since then the years have past quickly and the company has now down sized to focus on running one Scottish Hotel really well.  That one special hotel is the Inverness Palace, which is befitting from continued investment in services and facilities for you to enjoy including FREE Wifi Internet Access.

About the Inverness Palace Hotel & Spa, Inverness

Getting to Your Room

There are 2 lifts in the building: 1 is located to the right of the main staircase next to the hotel reception which goes to three floors supplying easy access to rooms 1 – 44.  The other lift is past reception, down to the end of the corridor passing the leisure club, through the doors and round to the right, which services 4 floors rooms 101 – 412. The stairs to these floors are beyond the lift. Unfortunately, you cannot access the main building rooms from the wing rooms, the only access being through the leisure club corridor. 

Restaurant

Enjoy a fantastic 54 choice hot & cold buffet breakfast. Situated on the Ground Floor, the Restaurant is easily accessible to all guests. The Restaurant is open at times to suit you.  You can enjoy a Continental Breakfast from 6.30am if you have an early start, with the Hot Scottish Breakfast buffet starting at 7am until 9.30am.  Weekends – 8am until 10.00am so that you can enjoy a long lie!  The Restaurant is open from 6pm for dinner with the last sitting at 9.00pm.

You can now enjoy your favourite Matthew Algie Coffee at the Inverness Palace You can enjoy a delicious Cappuccino or Caramel Latte either in the Lounge or even to Take Away if you are in a hurry in the morning.  There is also a delicious selection of Cakes.  The Coffee Bar is opened from 8.00am until 10.00pm every day of the week.

Brasserie at the Inverness Palace Hotel

You can also enjoy delicious homemade soup and sandwiches in the Inverness Palace Brasserie & the Lounge from midday until 9.00pm, with our High Tea menu being available from 3.30pm until 5.30pm, then our full brassiere menu with lots of choices from 6.00pm until 9.15pm. 

Relaxing Lounge at the Inverness Palace Hotel

After a long day why not relax in the newly updated Lounge.  Sit back on a leather sofa with a glass of wine in hand and watch the River Ness drift by.   Whether you are on your own or waiting to meet friends, this is an ideal location for you to enjoy a drink or two!  You can enjoy extensive opening times from 11am to 11pm.  Out with these times our night staff will be on hand to serve you drinks. Whether it’s champagne cocktail, a malt whisky or our local cask ale, we will be more than happy to assist you.

Your Meetings or Occasions

You can choose from the Ness Suite or our Eight on the River Restaurant, which are both ideal for all events. Whether it’s for a meeting, lunch, dinner dance, birthday party, or indeed a special event, you will be looked after by the professional team. Your requirements will be listened to carefully and packages will be carefully selected for your Occasion.  For meetings, you can choose from the Express Delegate package or Business Delegate package, or we can even tailor one just for you.  To fully explore what we can offer in terms of space, menus and rates please contact Reception who will happily arrange for a show-round of these facilities. Valet Parking Service

Car Parking & Valet Parking: You will find the 19-space car park to the side of the hotel. When you arrive if the car park is busy please park your car in a valet space bay and enter the hotel Leisure Club to register your car to be valet parked by our Leisure Club team.  All valet parked cars are parked a 2-minute walking distance from the hotel. Your car is driven to the car park and returned to you by a fully insured member of the team.  If you prefer to park your car or for large vehicles in a designated Palace space at the nearby car park please ask at the Leisure Club.  A refundable £10 deposit will be requested for the car park pass, as these are issued to the hotel directly from the car park owners.  All car parking is free for the duration of your stay.

About the Leisure Club & Spa

You can Relax and Unwind at the luxurious Leisure Club Spa.  Soothe away the stresses of your day in the deluxe Inverness Palace Leisure Club.  The Club is open every day from 7.00am until 9pm so there is lots of time for you to enjoy your break away.

  • The Swimming Pool – You will love the pool – 50ft long and heated to 84 degrees all year round.  Don’t worry, if you haven’t got your swimming costume with you, you can purchase one from the Leisure Club Reception.
  • The Gym – If swimming is not for you then why not try our Cardiovascular Gym. The recently upgraded cardiovascular equipment from Technogym offers a fantastic choice whether you are on a fitness regime or just for leisure. If you are going to be staying regularly why not speak to one of our colleagues who will happily arrange a personal fitness programme for you to follow to help achieve your goals.
  • The Jacuzzi, Steam Room & Sauna – However, if all that seems too energetic for you: then simply relax in the Jacuzzi; tiled steam room or cleanse your skin in the treated pine sauna.
  • Sleeping Beauty – Now open for your most relaxing and therapeutic beauty and spa treatments.  Our guests will be in safe hands with the Sleeping Beauty Team and you can choose from a great selection of treatments.  Whether you are looking for a Luxury massage with Hot Stones or an Elemis Herbal and Lavender Repair Facial you can relax with the expert hands of Sleeping Beauty.  Why not surprise a loved one with a special beauty treatment or maybe treat yourself to a massage?  It is easy to make an appointment you can call Sleeping Beauty Spa on 0844 445 7771 – press option 4.  Or you could just call in to our leisure club and speak to one of the Sleeping Beauty Team.
  • Health & Safety Statement – Your safety is very important and to avoid any confusion please read this important advice:
  • You swim & work out at your own risk in the Leisure Club Pool & Gym complex. 
  • There is NO qualified life guard on duty. 
  • All Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult when entering the Pool and surrounding area.
  • Children under the age of 16 yrs may only enter the Steam Room, Sauna & Jacuzzi with supervising adult present.  They do so at their own risk – it is not recommended that children under the age of 12 use these facilities.
  • Children under the age of 16 Yrs are not allowed to use the Gym.
  • Free Weights in the Gym are restricted to adults over the age of 18 Yrs.

For any unsupervised child or improper use of the facilities you will be kindly asked to leave the Club for your safety and that of other Guests & Members.  For more information on Club Safety please ask at the Club Reception.  These policies are in place to protect your safety.

About your Bedroom

You can choose from 89 re-styled and contemporary Classic and River View Bedrooms.  You will feel at home in any of the rooms you choose to stay in. There is everything you need but if there is something we have forgotten or not thought about please let us know and we will endeavour to please.

  • Air Conditioning

Unfortunately, this hotel was built before air conditioning became fashionable. We do however have thermostatically controlled heating and a fan will be supplied on request. Just dial 0 on your phone and speak to our reception team.  Opening windows is another option. Some say the old ways are still the best ways!

  • All Enquiries

For any enquiries please just contact the reception team who will do their very best to assist you. The reception is manned between 7.30am and 11pm by the team and between 11pm and 7.30am by the night manager who will be able to assist you. Just dial 0 on your phone.

  • Beds

The sizes of beds vary depending on your room type. We have Single Beds; Small Double Beds; Double Beds; Large Double Beds; Short Large Double Beds; Short Double; and a Ziplink Large Double. What ever your size, we have got a bed for you! Plus, there are Super King Size Double beds that are 6ft 6inches long!  The beds are all made by Blindcraft, which guarantees a firm mattress for a good nights’ sleep!   

  • Door Lock

Every bedroom has its own lock type ensuring your safety and privacy at all times. In addition we have recently installed a second locking mechanism to further promote your security.

To lock your door, you do not need a key. In all rooms, it is a case of pulling the door closed behind you. Remember to check that your room is secure before leaving.

If you require an extra key for the duration of your stay, please take the original to reception and they will happily give you another. Please note that the original must be taken to reception with identification to obtain the extra key. Remember to hand all keys in when leaving the building to help us in the event of an evacuation.

  • Face Cloths

If you would like a face cloth, please call reception by dialling (0) and we will deliver one promptly to your room.

  • Fire Notice – Important

We want you to feel safe and secure whilst you stay with us. On the back of your bedroom door you will find a Fire Notice, which contains important instructions for you to follow in the event of the fire alarm being sounded – the alarm sounds like a continuous siren. Please make yourself aware of this and also locate the nearest fire exit in case an evacuation is necessary during your stay. Our Fire Assembly point is on the riverbank pavement opposite 10 at the Palace, which is next to the hotel. This allows easy access for Fire Engines.

  • Fire Test

To comply with Fire Regulations, we must carry out a weekly Fire Alarm Test. The alarm will be sounded at 11am every Thursday – we apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

  • FREE WIFI High Speed Internet Access via your laptop

To check your email or surf the net you can access the free Wi-Fi Internet available through-out the Hotel.  Just ask Reception for the Wi-Fi login and daily password so you can surf the net with your Wi-Fi enabled mobile, tablet or laptop.  If you get stuck accessing the Wi-Fi please call Reception for 24hr assistance.

Alternatively, you can access the Internet through the telephone network or data port that can be found either by the vanity unit or beside your bedside table. Let us know if you need an extension so you can work comfortably in your room. The rates are the same as the standard telephone rate of 26p per minute.

  • Hair Dryers

For your convenience, we have placed a hair dryer in each room for your use. Just open the drawer and your hair dryer will be there, just take it out plug it in anywhere in the room and happy styling!

  • Ice

If you have been able to smuggle in some drinks of your own and would like some ice please just dial the bar between 11am and 11pm on (064) and this will be delivered to your room at no extra charge. If you like we will even supply an ice bucket, bottle opener and glasses, just let us know.

  • Computer & Printing Facilities

Do you need access to the Internet and you don’t have your laptop?  Well so you can now stay connected when you borrow the Laptop from Reception or use our Guest Lobby PC.  You can have your own office in your room or surf the web from the comfort of the lounge.  Printing is offered at reception, please feel free to borrow one of our memory sticks, and have your data printed for you while you watch.   Just ask Reception on (0) to borrow the Laptop. Both the Laptop and Lobby PC is available 24 hrs.  Printing is available from 7.00am until 10.00pm.

  • Ironing Boards

After packing and travelling your clothes usually come out the suitcase very crushed and needing some attention. So, if you need to put that crease back into your trousers we have provided the majority of rooms with an iron and an ironing board. Don’t be anxious if you can’t find one in your room just contact reception by dialling (0) and we’ll have one brought up to you.

  • Laundry

The guest dry cleaning and laundry service could not be easier. Just fill out your laundry slip (which you will find in your drawer) place the items of clothing into the bag (also in the drawer), drop it off at reception before 9am and we will have it back around 6pm the same day. This service is not available at weekends.

  • Lost Property

Did you leave something behind the last time you stayed? If so, please contact Reception who will check our Lost Property for you and if possible reunite you with your belongings. Please take extra care when packing, as we cannot be held responsible for lost property. 

  • Luggage Storage

If you are not travelling until later in the day and you don’t want to drag your luggage around with you, then please contact reception (dial 0) and they will arrange for your luggage to be uplifted and securely stored for you until you would like it back. Or you can bring your luggage down to reception and again they will look after it for you. You can do any time of the day or night. Assistance and secure storage is available 24hrs.                                                                                                                             

If you arrive early and your room is not quite ready, then you can leave your luggage again at reception and we will make sure it is in your room on your return to the hotel.

  • Messages

Whilst you are out of the Hotel, we have systems of making sure that those messages that arrive while you’re gone are there on your return: we may slip the message under your room door or it may be at reception in your individual pigeon hole.   Whatever the message we’ll get it to you.

  • Milk

You will find your tea tray stocked with UHT milk.  If you prefer milk closer to the natural source, please contact reception who will organise the delivery of a jug to your door, semi skimmed or full fat.

  • Minibar, Vending machines & Ice Machine

We don’t have these but if you would like a drink or ice delivered to your room between 11am and 11pm please contact the bar on (064) and they will deliver. The bar is open 24 hours for hotel guests only but for your safety and security we can’t deliver drinks or ice after 11pm. We have provided bottled water in the Riverview Rooms and bottled water and ice are both available from the bar 24 hours.

  • Newspapers

Keeping abreast of the current affairs, your share prices or just looking for the answers you missed in yesterday’s crossword puzzle? You can enjoy your usual Daily Newspaper for the normal price this will be added to your bill on a daily basis.  Order on day of arrival with reception for each morning or before 9pm the night prior.  All newspaper will be ready for collection at reception between 7.30am until 10.00pm.

  • Pillows/Blankets

The secret to a perfect slumber as we know is a comfortable pillow.  What could be more luxurious than a pillow that won’t have you sneezing or the odd wee feather poking you in the ear in the middle of the night? All our pillows are non allergenic. For extra pillows or blankets call Reception (0) and we’ll bring some to your room – available 24hrs.

  • Room Service
  • Breakfast – If you fancy having a lie in then complete the Room Service Breakfast Form or just give reception a call by dialling (0) so you can order your room service breakfast served between 7.00am and 9.30am weekdays and 8am – 10am at weekends. You will have a fantastic choice of hot and cold items, which will be promptly delivered to your room. If you are catching an early flight a continental breakfast can be organised for you out-with the breakfast service times.
  • Dinner – If you have had one of those days and you just want to sit down and relax in front of the TV, or enjoy some music, you may fancy dining in your own room. You will find our room service menu offers a wide variety of choices and with one call (064) it can be brought to your room. Room service dinner menu is served between 6.00pm and 9.00pm.
  • Safe

If you have valuable belongings, passports or cash that you would like to put in the hotel safe, then please contact reception and they will be able to help you.

  • Sewing Kits

Button fallen off or worse you’ve ripped your trousers? Don’t worry there are sewing kits in the drawers of every room. If not, call Reception and we will send one up.

  • Shoe Polishing & Suit Brushing

Got an important meeting that you need to look your best for? Simply give reception a call and they will happily organise for your shoes to be cleaned and brush your suit and that will be you, ready to impress!

  • Smoking

As the Law’s in Scotland has changed regarding smoking we are a Smoke Free Hotel.  Smoking in all public areas of the Hotel is against the Law for information see the government website www.clearingtheairscotland.com.

  • Tea & Coffee Tray

To quench your thirst, or more importantly, to satisfy the call for caffeine – please make full use of the tea and coffee making facilities provided in your room.  If you happen to run out of your favourite item, for example, coffee sachets, milk etc. or require a specialised brand – please don’t hesitate to contact Reception.

  • Telephones

To call your colleague in another room simply pick up the phone and dial their room number using three digits. So, if it were room one you would dial 001.

To make an external call dial 9 for an outside line and then your number. Likewise, for a

credit card phone call or a free phone number dial 9 and then your number or operator code. Calls paid by credit card and free phone numbers are not chargeable to your account.

If you are having problems with your phone or you simply need an area or international code please call the reception team who will be able to assist you.

  • Televisions/Radios/Cd’s

You will find a remote-control television in your room offering you the choice of Freeview channels including BBC1, BBC2, Grampian, C4, C5, as well as a variety of radio channels. In all rooms, you have a radio alarm clock, which provides even more opportunity to listen to your favourite station.

  • Toiletries

Guest Item Toiletries – even the best packer among us falls prey to the vision of the abandoned item on the bathroom unit – never fear; help is here!  Items ranging from toothbrushes to shampoo, shaving kits to deodorant and brushes to bath gel are available free of charge from the reception desk 24hrs.

  • Towels

Towels and bath mats are available in your room. If you would like extra just call reception and they will organise more for you. If you are going to the leisure club they will also supply towels so you can leave the towels in your room. If you require a rubber bathmat just pick up the telephone and dial 0 and one will be brought to your room.

  • Wake-up Call

What could be worse than sleeping in and missing an important meeting?

Please just contact reception to arrange a morning call. One thing to check though is that the volume on your phone has not been turned down.

  • Writing Desks 

Whether you are writing a postcard, using your laptop or finishing a presentation, we have chosen a good-sized writing table for all our guests.

  • Z-Beds/Extra

Catering for that extra guest? To save everyone squeezing into the one bed we can provide a comfortable bed to make things that bit homelier.  No more Z-beds…

All accounts and quoted prices in the hotel include VAT. Payment can be made through the use of:

All card transactions will be subject to authorisation.

  • Children’s Pack

Children’s Packs are available and should be issued to all children on check-in. They are full of quizzes, word searches and plenty of pictures to be coloured in which should keep the children entertained for hours so that you can enjoy some quiet time.

  • Conference, Meetings & Events

Are you here on business and need a meeting room?  Ask at reception and you can choose from 2 Stylish Meeting Rooms or Smaller Syndicate Rooms.  For the Meeting & Events Pack again just ask at reception and we’ll be delighted to look after your event or at the end of guest directory you will find some additional information.

  • Cots

Bringing the children along with you can be hectic enough without having to worry about bringing that big awkward travel cot too. So, if you have not pre-arranged one or you have just forgotten to pack one, give our reception a call and we will have one placed in your room.

  • CCTV

To add to your security while you are a guest in the hotel, we have 9 CCTV cameras located throughout the Hotel and car park. We hope that this will ensure that you will feel relaxed and safe when you stay with us. 

  • EMAIL Address

We are a small family owned business so keeping in touch with you needs to be fast and effective.  So please register your Email Address at Reception or using one of the Guest Cards so we can keep you up to date with the very latest offers.

  • Facilities for Special Needs

For the restricted in mobility, we have tried to offer you all the services that you might require, for example:

  • Restricted parking by the Hotel entrance
  • Reserved public bathroom
  • Adapted room to accommodate you with comfort and ease.

If we can help in any other way, perhaps by reserving a table in the Restaurant close to the entrance or making your room more comfortable for you – please contact Reception and we will do whatever we can to make your stay a pleasurable one. Please note that the disabled entrance is locked at 9pm for security reasons so if you are going out and won’t be back until later please get a key from reception so that you will have access when you arrive back.

  • Fax Facilities

Most people these days use Email, but we still find that the good old reliable fax is still popular. If you wish to send a fax just call in at the Reception and our staff will send these for you anytime for a small charge of £1.50 for the first sheets and 50p per sheet thereafter. This facility is available 24hrs.

We will also gladly receive faxes on your behalf and pass them on to you.

  • Night Porter Service

You come back to the hotel from a night out on the town and everything is closed on the way. If the walk has made you peckish and a little bit thirsty then it’s definitely time for our night porter to look after you. The bar as always will be open and there will be a variety of snacks there for you.

  • Pets

We do offer you the chance to bring your pets with you but all we ask is that you please bring a bed for them. There is a charge of £15.00 per animal per night.

  • Photocopying

For all your photocopying needs, our Reception team will be able to meet your needs again and again and again!  This facility is available 24hrs.

  • Porterage

Have you shopped until you are ready to drop? Are you unable to carry more?  Let our porters lighten your load.  Just ask reception and we will get your goods to your room so you can relax in the lounge with your favourite refreshment.

  • Postal Service

For all your postal needs: sending a postcard; a parcel; recorded or registered letter, the reception team again will be of service.

  • Company Packages – If you are visiting Inverness on Business regularly and want to set up a special Company Rate then we can arrange that for you as well ask at Reception.

Whilst a guest, we will gladly cash for you Sterling travellers cheques. Simply, bring the traveller’s cheque to Reception along with your passport and we will change them for you up to the value of £100. Please note that this is limited to one transaction per day.  Available between 8.00am and 8.00pm at reception.

  • Umbrellas

Here in Inverness our weather can be a bit unpredictable, if you find that you are all dressed up and suddenly there is a down pour, contact the reception team and they will be able to supply you with a “brolly” to save the day.

Extra Services for You

  • Car Hire

Now you have arrived in Inverness, you’re thinking, “this is a wonderful city and I need to see more!”  Should you decide you want to be the master of your own destiny, then hire a car and hit the road!  You are but a 5-minute drive from virtual remoteness.  Our reception team will be only too happy to arrange a hire car for you and also give you some tips about driving in Inverness one-way system. We have maps at the reception desk, which could be of help.

  • Medical Assistance

It can happen: you travel away and suddenly you take unwell or you have an accident. Putting your mind at rest is just a call to Reception (dial 0) and we will put your in touch with a relevant body or in a more serious situation please dial 9999 through to emergency services to save time as this could be crucial. If you feel you are not an emergency but would still like to speak to a doctor, then NHS 24 can help, just dial 9 for an outside line then 08454 242424 or dial 0 for reception and they can do this for you.

  • Dentist                                                                                                                                                                       

If you find yourself in the situation where that loose filling at the back has come out or you have just come down with sudden toothache and are in desperate need of a Dentist, just call Reception and we will give you details of our recommended local dentist.

  • Flowers

Say it with flowers! To say sorry, I love you or just for that extra touch to a special occasion, contact our reception team (they like flowers to!) and they will take care of your needs – blooming marvellous!

  • Places of Worship

Inverness is a multi cultural city with many people of different faiths. We have Churches of all denominations so if you would like to practise your faith or even go along and admire the architecture ask at our reception desk and they will give you all the relevant information.

  • Restaurants

We have one, why look anywhere else? If you have dined with us at least once, then we will be delighted to recommend other restaurants so you can enjoy the whole Inverness experience.
