1. Explore the City of Inverness
The City of Inverness is the capital of the Highlands and it’s a friendly place, people will make eye contact and say “Hello”. For our guests who have come from the city this is always a surprise!
After your Scottish buffet breakfast then take a stroll and add a bit of culture to your girly escape and visit Inverness Castle. The castle sits directly opposite the Best Western Inverness Palace Hotel & Spa. Stroll along the pretty river banks of the River Ness, cross the bridge and a wee walk up the hill and you are at the entrance to the Castle. The castle still serves as the sheriff court and is mostly lcosed to the public however the North Tower of the historic Castle contains a new viewing platform. A great place to get your bearings and enjoy a fab view up and down the River Ness and the surrounding town and hills.

Leakey’s Second Hand Bookshop – This is THE place to try in Inverness if you like books and / or a great bistro-style cafe with home cooking and an open fire! Leakey’s Bookshop was established in 1979 and has been housed for the last 19 years in the old Gaelic Church (1793). It is Scotland’s largest secondhand bookshop with 100,000 selected volumes. The Castle Gallery is one of the most successful small galleries you’ll find in Scotland. An alternative is Riverside Gallery a family run gallery with exhibitions all year. The Workshop at Inchmore. Inchmore is a small village in the Highlands of Scotland 7 miles west of Inverness on the A862 road to Beauly, surrounded by magnificent scenery. The Workshop is a 100 year plus wooden building which today is a hive of activity in textile art. Family team Ruth Black, Mary Wood and Rachel Wood can be found hard at work. Adjacent to The Workshop is The Loomshed, where they hand weave tweed on a traditional foot powered loom. This fantastic artisan venture also offers classes. Defninetly something different to try on your weekend away!

Discreetly scan the waters for any sign of Nessie but mostly sit back and take in the breathtaking views. If you want to make it even more of an adventure, then book the cruise with a stop at Urquhart Castle. This fabulous ruin is perched on the hill overlooking the Loch. You can get a sense of the ferociousness of the Jacobite age. The walls are scarred with the many battles the castle has witnessed. You can take the bus or the car and take a day trip to Chanonry Point. Make sure that you collect a picnic from reception before you go. The waters around the Moray coast attract a huge variety of Sea-life that are not easily spotted elsewhere in the country. If your girly group don’t want to take to the water then this wonderful place is for you. You can stand on the shore and are simply meters from the Sealife.
